6. How do I dispose of small debris such as fruit, nuts, flower clippings, and weeds?
Small biodegradable wastes could be placed in reusable rubbish containers at the roadside for the Village Department of Public Works personnel to pick up. When full, these containers should not weigh more than 50 lbs.

7. Does the Village DPW pick up building materials such as stones, concrete, bricks, sod, etc?
The Village DPW does not pick up any building materials. These must be disposed of through your private waste hauler.

8. What is the best way to put leaves on the curb?
Leaves should be left loose in piles by the curb, separated from brush, or other debis for the safety of our employees and the machinery.

9. What brush can I put on the curb?
Resident generated brush should be placed out at the curb for Monday pick up. Branches should not exceed 6 feet in length. Brush pick up is done year round, weather permitting. Between the dates of November 1 to March 31, brush pickup is limited due to the trucks being configured for snow pick up. Contractor generated brush needs to be hauled to the Town of Pittsford Highway Garage on Golf Avenue.

10. How do I dispose of hazardous waste materials such as paints, paint thinners, household chemicals, auto fluids, propane tanks?
The Village of Pittsford does not pick up any hazardous waste materials, however, the Town of Pittsford Highway Garage annually holds a hazardous waste drop off date, usually in the spring. For the Town Garage, please call 585-248-6270. You may also contact Monroe County for an appointment at one of their facilities to dispose of wastes. The number for Monroe County is 585-753-1080.
